5 photos

I wanted to take a picture of the sea with the beach plus the words on the sand. Originally it is up side down. But because the words are also upside down, I rotate the picture.

I went kite flying with my family and the sun was shining bright. I went to take a picture of the kite where the kite is like overlapping the sun ray/sun . It turns out to look like as if the kite glows.

My niece was having fun at the playground and I took a picture of her while she is on the see-saw. The photo potraits how happy she is as we can see from her expression and just right, the wind was blowing her hair and it shows motion.

While I was lying down in the car, I saw the bright sun from the car window. I started to take alot of pictures. One of the picture was this and had attracted my attention because i also caught a bird flying.
This picture reminds me of childhood times. The merry-go-round also gives the motion feeling. This picture is also like a flashback memory.

Edits :D (tumblr-ish photos)

I bought a new necklace and took a picture of it. The picture above is not edited. I decided to edit it to make it look tumblr-ish .

After editting, the photo turns out like the above. It looks more artistic after editting it. I really like the photographic pictures in tumblr and it really motivates me to take pictures like that.

Let's Move It !

Written by: Siti Namirah (3e4) and Sharifah Nora (3e1)

Finally exams are over ! The students are waiting to have their big break after a busy and stressful term. It was then time to get hyped up and to have fun. A company named Skratch came to East Spring Secondary School to teach and showcase their talent and passion in Hip Hop to us, the sec 3s. We anticipated in the activity, with enthusiasm. They first taught us about the different genres of Hip Hop. There are dancing, singing, rapping and even beat-boxing! There was a surprise guest from America who came to Singapore to showcase his talent to us. We were all so amazed by his talent of imitating a famous Hip Hop celebrity, T-Pain. Then, an awesome 4 time national beat-boxer, ZulMyStroe, made the audience wanting for more. His performance blown our minds away! The best part of day was when we got to get on our feet and move our body to the song by Beyonce. The song was catchy and made us enjoy the dance move taught by the instructors.

Here are some of what the sec3s taught about the programme.

What do you think of the programme that the school has organized ?
It was fun and it helped students to release their stress that was accumulated . –Adriannah(3e4)
Did you have fun and would you attend this kind of programme again?
Yes ! The beat-boxer was so cool ! I would definitely want more of this programme. –Eunice Lim (3e5)

Enoy the Ice cream~

My niece was eating the ice cream at the Swensens. I wanted to take a picture of the ice cream and also how she eat it.

This picture was taken at the Botanical gardens and the shutter speed is very slow. I rest my camera on the rocks while waiting for the shutter to shut.

We went to the botanical gardens and i saw this statue of a guy playing an old piano and a lady looking at him playing. the guy's hand was about to touch the piano while the lady was resting on the piano. I decided to take at this angle to give an impact. This picture also reminds me of a song that I love.

I took this picture on the day i learned about Silhouette photos. I went to the basketball court and took a picture of the goal post. The pictures shows the clouds too.

This is a picture of an unkown plant taken at the back of the school near the atrium. The focal point is the centre of the plant.

In this picture, the focal point is the Sunshine in the middle of the leaf. I was trying to take a picture of a silhouette but i don't think the picture turn out to be a silhouette photo.

I submitted this photo to the environment club competition. It was titled as " Let's Shine " . The pictures shows the bright and fun day that everyone should shine and be happy . In the end, I won the prize.

I submitted this photo in the Canon EOS competition. I named it Big Bang as the sun looks like a star at night. I took this in the afternoon at SP during my break. The aperture and the shutter speed was too high that it turned out very dark but the sun remains shining.
I took this after I was inspirated by tumblr photos ^^ [lol]
When my niece was calling someone, I was playing with my camera. So, I took some pictures of her. In this picture, I caught a moment where she look so happy to call her aunt.

This picture was taken at SP during my lunch break. On the way back to the lab, I took a pic of the road. I put my camera close to the ground and capture.

slow shutter speed !

With slow shutter speed, we can use it to make something look transparent/fade/ghostly in pictures. In this picture, The McFlurry looks like it is fading. I put my camera on the table and set it to 8 seconds shutter speed. After awhile, i take the Mcflurry out of the frame before the 8 seconds is over.
For this picture, I used BULB . When I capture the light, I move my camera a little and turns out like a light painting.
This picture, I used tripod to hold the camera . The shutter speed was around 10 seconds.

Portfolio Senior photographer

This picture was taken infront of a plain wall in my room. I hang a hanger on top of the wall and hang my necklace on the hanger. I took a picture of it when it was moving like a pendulum. I took it using the black&white effect. The flashlight was on and so the shadow was created. It looks really cool and mystical.
This picture was taken at a park. I saw a plant that has
thorns among the other normal plants. I decided to take picture of it using the rule of thirds. It shows how the plant stand out from the other normal leaves surrounding it.

This picutre was taken in school during the time when Mr Don Chan has assigned us to take pictures that appliy the rule of thirds. I took this picture upon seeing a purple flower among green leaves. It stands out from the other leaves as shown in this picture.

This picture was also taken after the briefing of the Rule of thirds by Mr Don Chan. I saw the pictures taken by him and i was inspired by the pictures of insects. With that, I saw a small ant on this leaf and I took the picture immediately. The plant with the ant on it stands out in the picture.

I saw a beautiful yellow flower somewhere in school. I wanted to make it look nice so I took the picture from the topview. In the background, we can see pebbles lying on the soil. Yet, the Yellow flower stands out in the picture.

CCA orientation
On Friday 14 Jan 2011, When I was walking around the school to interview some people, I saw many Sec 1s in their selected CCA first trial. Some of the netballers at the parade square looked really tired and exhausted. Maybe it is because they are not used to running around the school for a few rounds.

I walk to the field to see the other CCAs going on. I saw Scouts and Soft ballers there. Before I interview the softballers, The Sec 1s in soft ball looked very excited and enthusiastic to play the game that the seniors have prepared. I interviewed two seniors and one junior.

How was the orientation ?
"It was very fun handling the sec 1s and it is also challenging. We are prepared for the worse. If there's anything in our way, we'll get over it." -Keefe and Zulnazri [Sec3]

What do you think about the orientation ?
"It was very interesting. I didn't know that I'm good at it. The seniors were helpful yet fierce. I hope I manage to be the best player in softball if I get in to this CCA."-Armand Izzaq[Sec1N2]

After a long day of CCA, others went back home exhausted yet satisfied with their work that they have done on that day. I hope that the sec1s will be happy of the CCA that they are chosen to and work hard for the CCA to make the school proud.

Rabbit Year!
It's Chinese New Year Celebration in school on the 2nd of February. Many Chinese student were excited as it was the day that they have long waited for. The teachers also have smiles on their faces. For the performance, we have all the selected groups to present their show about Chinese New Year. Some was it was really awesome and very creative. We also have guests from Old Folks Home. I see smiles on their faces when the performance was going on.

The Chinese and Malay Dance performed and made the spectators more hyped up. There was one group that performed on stage. Mixture of class and age singing to Katy Perry's "Firework" that they had edited the lyrics to link it with Chinese New Year. Some of us sang along with them. I remember Joshua playing the guitar beautifully. There was also some quiz for us. We all enthusiastically participate in it. Many people raised their hands up to answer the question as they will get a prize if they answer it correctly.

Not forgetting, one of the guest performed by playing flute on stage. It was a breathtaking performance. He played the instrument fluently and beautifully. I was amazed by the beautiful song just by playing a flute. All in all, everyone had fun that day. Some of us even get a pair of orange before leaving the school.

Valentine's Day
Valentines day. A day which loves are appriciated. It was on Monday, 14 February when teenagers are all so excited for. Valentines day is not only for couples but for all who wants to express their love towards each other. For example, the love from students to teachers.

Most of us get chocolates, gifts or any other things from our loves ones. Like my class, Darryl gave Ferrero Rocher to each and anyone of us in 3E4. He placed it on our tables. Our form teacher also gets the chocolate. Everywhere I go in sch on that day, I hear many people talking about Valentine's Day.

Moreover, It was my last year's classmate's Birthday. Many of us sang her a birthday song for her in the canteen. It sures made her day. In my opinion, Valentines day is a good day for us to express our love to each other and to show that we appriciate them.
